After deciding that I wanted to revamp my makeup collection and splurge a little on quality products, I took a trip to Sephora, Ulta, and Nordstrom Rack, as well as making an online order to Colourpop Cosmetics. In determining which items I was going to buy, I did a little research on youtube for product reviews and tutorials - I also checked out the gram for inspiration and to see what makeup items people were currently loving. My search on youtube informed me that a lot of people were really into the Too-Faced Chocolate Bar palettes and, because I use neutral brown shades in my makeup looks every day, I thought it was worth it to pick this up. The other place that I received product recommendations from was a photo shoot I recently did with renowned makeup artist and photographer Joanna Petit-Frere. During the shoot Joanna primarily used the new limited edition Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette for the eye look she created along with Ardell lashes and Urban Decay Moondust glitter shadow. I loved the look so much that I purchased these very items. To find out more information about Joanna, see her past work, sign up for a makeup instruction class, or book an event with her you can visit the official Visage-1 studios website by clicking this link. {I hope to be getting up final pictures and videos of the shoot along with a recount of my experience working with Joanna very soon}. Back to the haul! The pictures below are some of the non-palette items I ended up getting. Not pictured are the Urban Decay Primer Potion and Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow pencil because I have been loyal to these products for some time now and repurchased them as my supply was running low. The first two photos are of the Urban Decay Moondust in “Space Cowboy”. I absolutely love this eyeshadow - I use it many times a week dusting it on top of whatever eye look I made for the day. Putting a really nice light coat of glitter on top of your eyeshadow adds to the glamour of the look without being too much. Joanna used an Urban Decay Moondust shadow during the photoshoot and I was obsessed ever since! From Nordstrom Rack I also bought two NYX liners to add a little spice and variety to the traditional black cat winged liner look I usually achieve every day. the Gwen Stefani palette came with a free sample of the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani lipsticks which was a plus. Additionally I used my redeemable points at Sephora towards a trial size of Smashbox photofinish primer. I bought two O.P.I. nail polishes form Nordstrom Rack in the colors “Lincoln Park at Midnight” and “Make Light of the Situation” which were on sale. Finally I purchased eight liquid matte lippies from Colourpop Cosmetics for just $6 a piece and saved $5 off my first purchase using a coupon provided by the site. You really can’t get a better price on such amazing products! {One of the Colourpop colors is not pictured because it was in my purse while I took the pictures and didn't realize until after I uploaded the pics - sorry!}
The next two slideshows are photos of the Tartelette In Full Bloom palette from Ulta and the Gwen Stefani Urban Decay palette which I got from Sephora.
I love them both and in an upcoming post I will be sure to show pictures of some looks I created using the products I bought in this haul. I would also like to make a separate post dedicated to the Chocolate Bar palettes. I loved the Semi- sweet Chocolate Bar palette so much that I just had to get the other two. Im very happy with all of the products and would absolutely recommend each and every one of them. I considered this my intro to beauty starter kit, so now that I have enough eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks for the next century I’m ready to slay every day! Keep up with my upcoming posts by following my Instagram personal and photography accounts. Stay Fabulous lovelies!
