One of my favorite times to shop online is directly after the winter holidays so I can use my christmas money and gift cards to catch all of those prime post-holiday sales. There are many cost-effective benefits of shopping online as opposed to in-store. Not only is shopping online highly convenient, but it also gives us as consumers the opportunity to score the best prices on our purchases as as possible. Here are my top 3 tips for discount, deals, and steals to save you money on your 'after christmas spree'.
1.) Compare prices
Although this step may require a little time and effort it is worth the energy one thousand percent! If you know exactly what you are looking to buy this is an excellent practice. Majority of the time, there will be more than one supplier carrying the item you want. A simple google search will bring up all of the identical & similar options that different websites offer to find the lowest available prices.
2.) Search Coupons
Always search coupons! It's so easy to search coupons especially using websites such as RetailMeNot that make it quick and convenient to find coupons for the stores you are buying from. Why not save a couple extra bucks!
3.) Sign-up For Emails
Many people become discouraged by the hassle of filling out the infamous "email list" forms. But here's a tip: DO IT. For just FIVE minutes of your time it is a great advantage to get updates of the latest promotions and coupons directly delivered to your inbox from the stores you shop regularly at. It doest get any easier than that! To avoid the annoying notification overload I would recommend setting your email account to deliver store emails to a designated folder of your inbox which you can refer to specifically when you intend to go online shopping.
***BONUS TIP) STUDENT DISCOUNTS!!!!
My biggest tip for in-store shopping would be to ALWAYS ask about student discounts when at the checkout counter. This is the golden rule. Generally student discounts are not well advertised, however, you would be shocked at just how many clothing stores, eateries, hard lines retailers, etc. offer student discounts for your purchase. ALWAYS ask because every penny counts when managing a college budget!
